ImageNation Cinema Foundation kicks off Black History Month with Cocktails, Cinema & Revolution, a celebration of Black excellence, artistry, activism and independent film. Honorees include Oscar-nominated director for Selma, Ava Duvernay, MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry, Black Lives Matter and author/actor/activist Hill Harper of Limitless and CSI, NY.
Sponsored by 103.9FM and the National Black Programming Consortium, Cocktails, Cinema and Revolution includes a live performance by vocalist/composer Jeremy James, an an advance screening of the upcoming Lionsgate/CodeBlack film '1982'. Starring Hill Harper, Sharon Leal, Wayne Brady, Troi Zee, La La Anthony and Ruby Dee, director Tommy Oliver's emotional debut feature chronicles a Philadelphia father's struggle to protect his daughter from the reality of her mother's drug addiction ( Click here to see trailer). The film will be followed by a talkback moderated by ImageNation Cinema Foundation founder, Moikgantsi Kgama with director Tommy Oliver, actor Hill Harper, image activist Michaela angela Davis and noted psychologist Dr. Jeff Gardere.
