CT chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice

Greetings,

If you are receiving this email, you have expressed interest in participating in a CT chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ), “a national network of groups and individuals organizing White people for racial justice.”   Please take a look here for SURJ’s mission and value statements:http://showingupforracialjustice.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=54d58098c0a8f470a41262a92&id=e33a005dae&e=774f247c1c

This current contact list includes organizers, activists, educators, and concerned people who want to get involved in a larger community with racial justice as its primary goal.  There is a variety of experience represented here as well.

SURJ prioritizes ongoing relationships with local and national PoC activist groups to maintain accountability, stay informed, and plan aligning efforts.  In our first meeting, we can determine what current connections we have and where we need to work on building new relationships to ensure accountability.  With that in mind, we can come together to consider, how would a CT SURJ chapter best serve local and then national racial justice and anti-racist activism?

The first meeting will take place in the New Haven area.   To start, please complete the scheduling poll here: http://showingupforracialjustice.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=54d58098c0a8f470a41262a92&id=88cbf02d3a&e=774f247c1c .  If you can help plan or lead this meeting, please reply tojennifergriffiths68@gmail.com

In the future, there will also be more regional efforts in the Hartford area and wherever else this initiative takes us.    For more information about SURJ in general, Cathy Rion Starr ( crionstarr@uuma.org) is the CT contact person.  For questions about this meeting and the New Haven-area affiliate, contact Jennifer Griffiths at jennifergriffiths68@gmail.com or 203-407-0157.

Looking forward to connecting,

Jennifer Griffiths
