Book Discussion on Firefight
Ginger Adams Otis talked about her book, Firefight: The Century-Long Battle to Integrate New York’s Bravest, about the 100-year struggle to integrate the New York City Fire Department. Even today, the department has only 300 black firefighters out of a total of 11,000. During this event, Ms. Otis was joined by some of the firefighters profiled in the book.
