Justice for Malik:Statewide Protest Against Police Brutality Tuesday, April 14, 2015 - 5PM Gather at 451 Grand Ave

Thanks to Wanda Faison for sharing:

Blue Haven, a new group on Yale's campus dedicated to building connections between the Yale and wider NHV communities, is working in conjunction with the yNAACP, ANSWER CT, the MALIK Organization, and People Against Police Brutality to hold a public discussion on profiling, police terror, and ways that we as citizens can make an impact in the fight against these issues. Feel free to join the Facebook group for all of the details. Facebook link

April 14, 2015 marks the 18th anniversary of the murder of Malik Jones, who was unarmed and boxed in, in his car, by the East Haven Police.
Malik's mother, Emma Jones, has been fighting for justice over the last 18 years. On April 14, she will lead this march and meeting, and will be filing a lawsuit at the U.S. Supreme Court seeking justice for Malik. Multiple juries have agreed that the East Haven Police Department was responsible for the "wrongful death" of Malik, but the city of East Haven continues to appeal the case.
As activists in New Haven, across Connecticut and around the country have mobilized in the hundreds and thousands against racist police killings, police and governments have refused to give justice. Only a strong, united people's movement is capable of getting the justice we demand and need.
