Superman-The Mercedes Championships, presented by Geico underwritten by Nike.

It does seem that from time to time one has to feel like Superman or Superwomen to make it across the finish line without the speeding bullet catching up with you.

Who knows what was being triggered  recently in the  one person South Carolina Superman Sweepstakes presented by Mercedes, Geico and Nike where the grand prize was continued life, if you can out run several projectiles tearing your body, mind and soul.

I am told that Polo will offer this spring a line of shirts with several bullet size holes in the back for mercantile and socio-politic currency value.

I have also heard that track meet starting blocks are now being replaced at the Olympics with Mercede's cars where the the runners have to emerge from the drivers seat as the gun goes off, only one false start permitted.

What a grand race we live in.

Who has not dreamed of running like Jesse Owens, or Bob Hayes or Wilma Rudolph or Bolt.

Even the saga of John Henry might be familiar to some , of technology overcoming raw power.

But somehow the distant ( or current) echoes ( or  recent stark images ) of  running to avoid the bloodhounds and slave catchers keeps folks up at night and day, at night , at day, at night , at day.....
