NEW HAVEN >> Outrage and anger descended upon the Police Department Monday afternoon in the form of protesters upset over the handling of a police officer seen on a video taking a 15-year-old girl to the ground during an arrest at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Earlier Monday, police union President Louis Cavaliere confirmed the officer, Joshua Smereczynsky, has been working his midnight patrol shift but added that an internal affairs investigation has been launched to examine the arrest.
