Please mark your calendars for the 2nd Yale-China Symposium, April 4, 2015, at Kroon Hall, 195 Prospect Street, New Haven.
This year’s them will be Chinese Overseas Investment and it Environmental & Social Impacts.
The symposium has a strong focus on China's investment in Africa. Here are some highlights in the symposium:
- Panel speaker: Ambassador David H Shinn, a former US ambassador to Ethiopia and Burkina Faso
- Panel speaker: Dr. Xiaoyang Tang, author of China-Africa Economic Diplomacy and What It Reveals About the Global Supply Chain
- African case study: Wanbao Xiaxia farm in Mozambique: Lang grab or development? In this session, we will divide the audience to represent the Chinese company, Mozambique government, local farmers. Under the guidance of the case study presenter, the stakeholder groups will work on the solutions that resolve the conflicts.
