Angelique Kidjo, a Grammy-winning singer and songwriter and humanitarian, is the recipient of the Festival's 5th Visionary Leadership Award. Free events and conversations, as well as a benefit luncheon, will mark her visit to New Haven.

Mama Africa (2011, dir. Mika
Kaurismäki) is a documentary about legendary African music icon Miriam
Makeba, a major influence on Ms. Kidjo’s life and work. Ms. Kidjo
appears in the film as a commentator, and will host this screening with
Q&A following. Presented in partnership with Yale Film Studies.
