Reclaiming the Prophetic Voice marks the cost of the continuing violence in Iraq and Afghanistan by placing the Dec. stone on the Memorial Cairn at the intersection of Broadway, Elm and Park streets, inscribed with the Dec. death toll of US military personnel and the approximate numbers of Iraqi and Afghani civilians killed during that period of time. *

Films and community forum: New Era for US-Cuba Relations. Event moderated by Natalia Xiomara-Chieffo, Founder & Director of Spanish on the Green. Films by Cuban Director/Cinematographer Roberto Chile. Let There Be Light (2006, 12 minutes). An account of ‘Misión Milagro’ (Operation Miracle), whereby Cuban doctors restore the sight of people from all over the Americas. On the Slopes of the Himalayas (2006, 37 minutes) follows the work of Cuban medical volunteers in Pakistan after the devastating earthquake of 2005. Discussion to follow film screenings. A family-friendly info session on the Cohousing Neighbor-hood
 to be built in Bethany. Live in a place where you know all your neighbors, where children are safe to run and play outdoors, where elders are respected for their knowledge and skills. Thirty energy-efficient private homes in a farm-centered neighborhood known as Rocky Corner, will be built next year on 33 acres. Stand with Gaza: A Vigil and Benefit Concert. Violinist Michael Dabroski performing music by JS Bach, an original Suite for Gaza, Palestinian melodies, and sharing notes from a concert trip to Gaza City in Dec. 2013. The 45th Annual MLK Love March. The Love March was created to preserve the notion of nonviolence. This year’s theme “Healing a Village” speaks to the importance of taking back our streets, our neighborhoods and our youth. Consistent with the vision of Dr. King, we march rain or shine. A tradition since 1971, the march is held in remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King on the actual date of his birth. North Korea: The Time To Go Is Now. Andrea Lee and John Dantzler-Wolfe of Uri Tours speak generally on the topic of DPRK (North Korea) travel, including legality, safety, logistics and the typical tourist experience, as well as comments on the climate for business and outside investment within the country. 19th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Legacy of Environmental & Social Justice at the Yale Peabody Museum, 170 Whitney Ave. Free.
