Community Healing Network and the Association of Black Psychologists are sponsoring Emotional Emancipation (EE) Circles today in seven cities: Ferguson, Missouri; New Haven, CT; Tuskegee, AL; Baltimore, MD; Portland, OR; and Los Angeles and Oakland, CA.
EE Circles are safe spaces in which we as Black people can come together to share our feelings and stories, learn more about the impact of historical forces on our emotional lives, and practice essential emotional wellness skills. EECs are designed to help us overcome and overturn the lie of Black inferiority: the root cause of the devaluing of the lives of Black people--people like Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Michael Brown, and the many others whose lives have been so brutally cut short. It is in their memory and honor that our EE Circles join in spirit and in solidarity this day.
