We’re moving
through the middle of Mercury’s retrograde period this week. Here are
some classic Mercury Retro examples from the media which seem
appropriate as Mercury leaves Cancer for Gemini:
The Bergdahl homecoming kerfuffle bears
all the marks of Mercury retrograde in Cancer: complex and confusing
versions of an emotional story, the presentation itself, with the
Talibanesquely bearded father, conveying an emotional double-take,
leaving home (base) under murky circumstances, and after many days
details remain hidden inside family walls.
The World Cup began last Thursday with
Brazil, the number one team, scoring the first goal on themselves. Then
a portion of the stadium lighting turned off, and then on again. But
the core lesson is that the game went on, it was not stopped, just made a
little more complicated from being tweaked by Mercury’s ongoing
retrograde status.
Perhaps the all-time Mercury Retrograde
example came back in 1994. The O.J. Simpson media earthquake began with
the Simpson-Goldman murders that occurred 20 years ago on June 12 when
Mercury was standing still to go retrograde. This event led to the
biggest TV viewership ever and began months of backward looking
investigation and trials. The verdict in Simpson’s trial was watched by
more than half the U.S. population. Some observers assign the birth of
reality TV to the O.J. chase and trial.
The U.S. election in 2000 took place on
November 7th when Mercury was standing still as he ended his retrograde
period. Do you remember the multiple recounts in Florida? Many people
think a coup d’etat via the Supreme Court was the final result. In any
case, Bush was made president although he received fewer votes than
Gore.
Last year, the Obama Care rollout started
under Mercury Retrograde and we all know how smoothly that went. But
we should also remember that it was revised and corrected until it
worked. That’s the expected sequence for beginnings during a retrograde
period.
Mercury backs into Gemini on Tuesday, and
those of us who are extra sensitive to Mercury’s state of mind should
notice an increase in internal dialogue and a reduction in
sentimentality. We shift our concerns from feelings and self-protection
to information and its structures.
Venus in Taurus is fruitfully connected
with Jupiter in Cancer on Wednesday. This is an excellent “planting
day” for whatever garden you’re working in, earthly or otherwise. This
makes for many a green thumb outcome in all areas. Look around for
areas and ideas that could grow or benefit from replanting (Mercury
Retro). This Venus-Jupiter combo rewards earnest effort.
The Summer Solstice
comes early on Saturday morning. Mars has moved to halfway between his
square to Pluto last Saturday and his opposition to Uranus coming next
Wednesday. The warfare and political violence we see in the Middle East
and Southeast Asia are symbolized by the tension between this violent
trio of planets: Mars, Uranus, and Pluto. As a forecast for the next
three months, the Solstice chart holds little hope for quick and
peaceful resolutions.
Sunday June 15, 2014 Capricorn->Aquarius Moon
An aftermath feeling today, and an understanding comes when the Moon ends her VOID, entering Aquarius at 10:27am/1:27pm. Step back and detach emotionally.
Monday June 16, 2014 Aquarius Moon
Maintain your altitude Aquarius style.
When the Moon touches both Saturn and Venus, it's easier to see and
discuss the interpersonal choices made last Thursday.
Tuesday June 17, 2014 Aquarius->Pisces Moon
Mercury backs into Gemini today and our
inner chatter is livelier, tending toward incessant. Find a situation
or book to re-read, at a new level.
Wednesday June 18, 2014 Pisces Moon
Detachment is gone now under the Pisces
Moon. Venus and Jupiter combine to put fertile ground before us. A
financial opportunity, thought lost, may return.
Thursday June 19, 2014 Pisces->Aries Moon
When the Sun aligns with Mercury
retrograde, like today, it's not a time to press your POV. Beware of
selective perceptions that preen the ego.
Friday June 20, 2014 Aries Moon
Get active and make good use of the Aries
Moon that touches all of the creative destructive players: Mars, Pluto,
and Uranus. Once again the status quo is shaken up.
Saturday June 21, 2014 Aries->Taurus Moon
The Summer Solstice occurs early this morning. During her VOID
period from 3:24pm/6:24pm until 8:03pm/11:03pm when the Moon enters
Taurus, our mood calms and we become comfortable with the new personal
changes that may have seemed scary yesterday.
Ongoing
Jupiter is direct in Cancer.
Saturn is retrograde in Scorpio. Uranus is direct in Aries. Neptune is direct in Pisces turning retrograde June 9th. Pluto is retrograde in Capricorn.
In the Night Sky
Venus is the bright Morning Star visible in the morning before sunrise.
Mars is overhead at sunset and Jupiter is low in the west. |
