The Greater New Haven Association of Black Social Workers will be honoring Kim Washington founder of Mother's Demand Action, Nakia Dawson founder of Bereavement Care, Booker T. McJunkin founder/Coach of Venom Football League, Douglas Bethea, community activist, Leonard Jahad, community activist, and our Unsung Hero Mr Edmond Love, retired NHPS teacher for their earnest humanitarian acts in the New Haven Community.

The First Annual Harambee Awards Breakfast, themed "Banded Sticks Cannot Be Broken" will be held at the Laurel View Country Club, 310 West Shepard Avenue, Hamden, CT, Saturday May 17, 2014, 9am to 12pm. Tickets are $30.00. Please inbox for tickets, inquiries can also be made at (203) 389-7306.



In the Spirit of Harambee, coming together, the GNHABSW organization is committed to humanitarian acts. The named honorees exemplify advocacy in valuing lives, the consciousness of the Sankofa meaning of honoring our past as we move forward, and humanitarian acts through activities to lift up the New Haven Community.
