NAACP Stands Firm

The National NAACP will issue a press release today condemning the racist
comments allegedly made by NBA Clipper Owner Donald Sterling.
Interim President/CEO Miller was on Meet The Press this morning to
discuss the issue and to state that the National NAACP does NOT support the
Lifetime Achievement award being given to Sterling by the LA Branch and
that it will be withdrawn.
She also highlighted other racist comments made public recently (e.g.
Nevada Rancher Cliven Bundy; Texans Ted Nugent and Red McCombs; Phil
Robertson/Duck Dynasty) and draw attention to the rising hostile racist
environment that exists where these individuals feel they can make these
insulting racist comments without fear of rebuke and swift action.
105 years later, there is still a need for the NAACP to eliminate racial
hatred and racial discrimination.
