Greater New Haven Community Events Calendar | “The Hill” Screening & Discussion
Please join us on Wednesday, March 19 at East Rock School for a screening the award-winning 2013 documentary The Hill followed by discussion with filmmaker Lisa Molomot. The Hill “follows a determined group of neighbors in New Haven’s Hill neighborhood struggle to save their homes from destruction when the City of New Haven proposes to build a new school complex where their properties stand.” The film not only immediately draws us into the complex issues surrounding urban planning, gentrification, and economic renewal, but takes great care in connecting us emotionally and psychologically to individuals personally affected by these forces. The result is a powerful tragedy demanding our attention to those who might otherwise be lost to the losing side of history.
