Greetings,
This
has been a most amazing season of Deeper Change Events. From Dr. Darya
Funches to Shakti Butler. In January hosted at ConnCAT we enjoyed
another diverse and engaged group of community members led by Barbara
Tinney and George Penick. (see the wonderful display of pictures @ http://ceio.org/deeper-change/index.shtml. )
We
now invite you to the final Deeper Change Forum of the season featuring
Guest Speaker, Jerry White and followed by community conversation.
Jerry
White shares in the 1997 Nobel Prize for Peace awarded to the
International Campaign to Ban Landmines. His 1997 trip to
Bosnia-Herzegovina with Diana, Princess of Wales, was the event
credited with putting the spotlight on the plight of hundreds of
thousands of victims wounded by mines worldwide. White was pursuing a
graduate degree in Theology and Religious Studies at Cambridge
University when he was called to serve in the Obama administration.
In
a 2012 article called, Explosive Wisdom: What Landmines Teach Us
About Liberation and Leadership, White says: "It is worth noting the
four fundamental qualifications I now look for in leaders of
liberation:
- Are you are a doer-a person of action? You don't just talk or complain.
- Do you burn for justice and humanity? You long for a more humane world.
- Do you value inner space? You are not afraid of silence or spiritual practice.
- Do you retain hope and optimism? You are not cynical about the future."
