Developmental Education Reform: Ensuring Success for All in Connecticut
Connecticut
passed an ambitious reform on our remedial education system
two years ago. After two years of planning and one year of
pilots, community colleges are gearing up to implement the law
in full. The roll out of this legislation, PA 12-40, has
proved controversial, with some voices arguing that it limits
access to higher education. To analyze and evaluate the state
and community college plans on this important reforms, CAHS
has produced an extensive report on the law and potential
issues regarding its implementation.
Join us March 21 at 11 am at the State Capitol to
discuss the report's findings, hear the latest developments
and results from the initial pilots and learn about best
practices on remedial education.
Featured speakers:
- Senator Beth Bye, Chair of
the Appropriations Committee, Vice-Chair of Higher
Education Committee. - David Levinson, Vice President for Community
Colleges, Board of Regents. -
Susan Bickerstaff, Postdoctoral Research Associate, CCRC-
Columbia. -
Roger Senserrich, Policy Coordinator, CAHS.
