WHAT'S IN A NAME, WHAT IS THE CURRENCY?

This interactive panel presentation was so rich with ancestral gold and black diamonds running through the blue bloods gathered. What we call "Slavery" in using that umbrella term is really shorthand  for the currency of the day. The stock market, modern accounting practices, the insurance industry, leveraged risk and transnational trade all were jump-started and crowd-sourced by the creation of this financial instrument called"Slavery"

Calhoun College at Yale University is of course named after John. C. Calhoun. The question for today is how will we all be remembered.  Will we trace our ancestry to slave trader descendants, white privilege benefactors, wealth pipeline conduits, particles of the financial net or freed spirits ready to right the ship of truth and reconciliation?

Thanks to Kathleen Cleaver, Chris Rabb, Judith Shiff and Jonathan Hollaway for orchestrating such fruitful discussion during the AYA Calhoun College Alumni event.
