Join a community conversation on the Jordan Davis verdict
NEW HAVEN >> Join Register Community Engagement Editor Shahid Abdul-Karim and New Haven Attorney Michael Jefferson, Community Action Agency President and CEO Amos Smith and former Assistant State’s Attorney for Baltimore city the Rev. William Mathis for a live roundtable conversation from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday on the web at www.nhregister.com regarding the verdict in the death of Jordan Davis, 17.
Davis was killed by Michael David Dunn, when Dunn fired 10 bullets toward a group of teenagers who were in a sport-utility vehicle listening to loud rap music in a Florida gasoline station parking lot. Jurors deadlocked on the more serious charge and a judge declared a mistrial on the first-degree murder charge. A Duval County jury convicted Dunn on three counts of second-degree attempted murder Saturday night.
