        ABOUT CONNCAT:
CONNCAT is a 501C(3) affiliate of the National Center for Arts & Technology and is modeled on the nationally acclaimed Manchester-Bidwell model founded in Pittsburgh by Bill Strickland. The Center, which opened in 2012, currently offers a youth arts program and an adult job-training program. The youth program includes Dance, Theatre, Digital Studio and Design Studio courses, Entrepreneurial Academy, and is offered at no cost to underachieving students identified by New Haven and Hamden public schools. The intention is to leverage the demonstrated value of arts education as a weapon against high dropout rates.

CONNCAT’s adult program provides affordable industry-specific job training to the city’s under-employed and unemployed adults. With assistance from partners including Yale-New Haven Hospital, CONNCAT carefully selected and developed programs in medical coding and phlebotomy.  The programs provide students with practical, in-demand skills that can move them into meaningful employment. CONNCAT’s adult programs are free of charge, but students must demonstrate commitment by meeting registration, attendance, behavioral, and course completion requirements.

ABOUT MAURICE CLARETT:

Maurice Clarett’s life has been very public as football took him places he never could have imagined.  From Youngstown OH, Maurice in high school was named USA Todays Player of the Year in 2002.  Maurice had a breakout season for the Buckeyes in 2002 as he broke the freshman single season rushing record set by 2-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin, Maurice rushed for 1,247 yards that year. In that same season the Buckeyes went undefeated and beat the Miami Hurricanes in double overtime to become National Champions.

Maurice is forth coming about his travails the several years following his freshman year that resulted in his early dismissal from collegiate football and tumultuous activities and lifestyle that lead him to 4 years in prison.
Since Maurice's release from prison in 2010, he has been committed to restoring his life and reputation as a man who lives and acts with integrity, and is guided by the morals and values as dictated by his strong Christian faith.

For the past three years Maurice has played professional football with the UFL Omaha Nighthawks, was co-founder of Led By Pro's youth football camp, and has been on a public appearance / speaking engagement tour where he shares his life story with the hope of imposing some wisdom learned the hard way.

Most recently, Maurice completed an ESPN film documentary Youngstown Boys, aired on ESPN’s award winning film series 30 for 30. Maurice recently has published and made available for sale, his journal that chronicles his struggles while away from his family. It takes an up close and personal seat to his life lessons learned while imprisoned.

Maurice looks forward to sharing his story in the public forum, and looks forward to the life ahead of him where he describes " success beyond his wildest dreams" from; the peace of mind he enjoys daily with God at the center of his life, the humility acquired through his past trials, and the many mentors, friends and family who continue to share unconditional love and support in his life. " I know the best years of my life are ahead of me, and I look forward to sharing them with the people who mean the most to me," Maurice Clarett.
