New testing standards stressing New Haven educators
NEW HAVEN >> The state Department of Education adopted Common Core State Standards in 2010, and the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium shortly after, and in New Haven, feelings about the changes waiver between “well, it’s here,” “it’s a good thing” and “we’re set up to fail.”
A community conversation on the standards and the tests was held at Stetson Library Wednesday night.
The panel for the discussion included Central Connecticut State University assistant professor of teacher education Jacob Werblow; district Deputy Superintendent Imma Canelli; district language arts teacher Carolyn Streets; and district math coach Patricia Abdur-Rahman.
