Ringing out the old year with First Night films - Movies - The Boston Globe
The Roxbury International Film Festival, New England’s largest film festival dedicated to works by and about people of color, again teams with First Night for a two-hour program at the Hynes Convention Center, Room 200, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Curated by the Color of Film Collaborative and ACT Roxbury, the program will showcase several shorts and features from this year’s as well as past festivals, including “Veterans of Color,” director Mark Parry’s 60-minute documentary about African-American military veterans of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Also on the bill is “Losing Lebron,” a documentary from directors Allyson Sherlock and Nicole Prowell Hart that chronicles the impact on the city of Cleveland when NBA superstar LeBron James decided to sign with the Miami Heat.
