James A. Foster,
84, of New Haven, beloved husband of Elizabeth (Betty) for 63 years
passed away on November 17, 2013 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born
in New Haven on February 20, 1929, son of the late William and Arthelia
(Allen) Foster. He was a member of
"The Goldenaires Quartet" when he was a teenager. They performed on a
weekly TV show on WTNH-TV Channel 8 Television Station Broadcasting Co.
He was also the 1st lead tenor soloist for the historic Ink Spots. Some
of their greatest hits were "If I Didn't Care,' "Into Each Life Some
Rain Must Fall, and "I Believe." He was a talented artist and a
choreographer. He attended the Paier School of Art specializing in still
life and portrait painting in oil. James
was a deacon at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church. He was a founder
advisor of the Alpha Kai Omega Chritian Fraternity for teenaged young
men. He was widely known for his musical talent and was very active in
various musical groups at Immanuel. He leaves to cherish his memory; his
loving wife, Elizabeth; 2 sons, James Jr. (Ruth), Keith; daughter, Kathy Lynn; sister, Dorothy and a host of relatives and friends.
