Waterbury Leaders Rally for Trayvon at Martin Luther King Memorial Park

The Connecticut African American Emancipation Challenge, the Waterbury Center for Economic and Social Justice and members of the Waterbury Black Clergy Council will jointly host a large rally to express their frustrations and disbelief in the verdict in the Trayvon Martin murder.
The organizations which are all Facebook groups with over 5000 members released a joint statement saying, "People are coming together because no amount of cynicism can override the pain of knowing a seventeen year-old teenager is dead through no fault of his own, and no one will be held accoutable."
There will be host of speakers to include Rev. Bosie Kimber, Regional Director and Board Member of "Al Sharpton's National Action Network, Joyce Petteway; a Former Waterbury Alderman and Activist, Dr. James H. Gatling, President/CEO of New Opportunities Inc., Pastor Pamela Hughes; President of the Waterbury Center for Economic and Social Justice, Rev. Dr. Leroy Perry; of Mt. Olive AME Zion Church, Rev. Lydell Brown; President of Black Clergy Council and others are invited to make comments are State Representative Larry Butler, Alderman Greg Hadley as well as other clergy, activists and local residents if they wish to briefly. If there is anyone else who wants to speak please let us know.
The event is being held at 6pm in the Martin Luther King Memorial Park on Waterbury's North Square on Tuesday the 23rd of July and is open to the public for all races, colors and creeds who support this cause.
