The Gang of Dads
is off and running!
Over
30 people representing churches, secular organizations, and concerned
individuals attended the first of what we hope will be several
informational meetings for the Gang of Dads mentoring program. Amid the
buzz of enthusiasm, there were great questions posed and a genuine
depth of interest prevalent in the room. People seem to recognize that
it's time to attack the issue of Greater New Haven fatherhood voids in a
collaborative manner and they seemed quite ready to do so.
We
will be contacting the men who attended the session in order to
facilitate applications, background checks, and orientation sessions
for those who qualify. Formal training will follow.
If
you were unable to make the first interest meeting, the next one will
be held on Thursday, June 27 at 7:00 PM at Hillhouse High School. (note:
location awaiting confirmation).
