Stakeholder Engagement Schedule for Superintendent Search Released
Today,
the New Haven Board of Education released the schedule for stakeholder
engagement for the superintendent search. The community input sessions
that have been
scheduled create a forum for everyone in the community to be directly
involved in the process and share feedback on the characteristics they
would like to see in their next superintendent. In addition to three,
two-hour long open forums, the Board of Education
is engaging 17 other focus groups over the course of three full days
that represent a broad cross section of the community including parents,
teachers, principals, faith leaders, youth and community serving
organizations, student representatives, unions, support
personnel, higher education representatives, central office staff,
aldermen, and cultural organizations. Spanish translation will be
provided at the session held on April 24th.
A web-based, electronic survey will also be made available on the district website at
https://proact.wufoo.com/forms/new-haven-superintendent-search-survey/,
offering members of the community an alternative way of providing
feedback for the superintendent search. (Survey available in Spanish
here
https://proact.wufoo.com/forms/new-havenencuesta-para-la-basqueda-del-supt/).
“Schools
are at the heart of our community, and hearing from everyone across New
Haven is a vital part of this leadership search,”
Carlos Torre, Board of Education chair, said regarding the importance of these meetings.
Stakeholder
engagement is a critical component to the development of the position
profile for a superintendent search. It provides a valuable opportunity
for community
feedback to be incorporated directly into the profile and is used to
drive recruiting and evaluation of candidates. The survey responses,
along with the feedback and input that will be received throughout the
stakeholder engagement process, will provide a
basis for the types of candidates recruited.
