February 4, 2013 -- (San Francisco, CA). Beginning April 4, dozens of the world’s most acclaimed yoga teachers will offer more than 100 classes at the Yoga Journal New York Conference. Held at the Hilton New York, these master teachers, including Rodney Yee, Ana Forrest, Shiva Rea, David Life, Sharon Gannon, Seane Corn, David Swenson, Dharma Mittra, Desiree Rumbaugh, Cyndi Lee, Rod Stryker, Kathryn Budig, and others, will teach classes for all levels and styles of yoga, from relaxing yin yoga to vigorous ashtanga.

Get Your Dance On!   A high energy dance party that welcomes everyone! The night begins with a yoga class led by Elena Brower and Dana Flynn, featuring the legendary India-infused beats of DJ Drez  $35 advance / $45 at the door. Open to the public.

Saturday, April 7

1:30pm - 2:30pm. FREE Community Class: The Lole Yellow Session with Elena Brower. A sequence of cleaning twists and meditation will leave you feeling happy and refreshed. Sponsored by Lole. Open to the public.

2:00pm-3:00pm. FREE Community Class: Sattva, Rajas and Tamas: The Qualities of Mind. According to Ayurveda, there are three qualities of mind. Sattva, which represents balance, is more easily attained using principles of Ayurveda. This free class includes lecture and breathing exercises. Open to the public.


Sunday, April 8

1:30pm - 2:30pm. FREE Community Class with Kay Kay Clivio. Enjoy an elegant slow-flow sequence with this gentle approach to vinyasa yoga. Sponsored by Pure Yoga. Open to the public.

1:45-2:45pm. FREE Panel Discussion - “Handle with Care: Ahimsa in Asana”. Join esteemed panelists Judith Hanson Lasater, Leslie Kaminoff and Jason Crandell as they discuss how to take care of yourself while you practice yoga.


5:45pm - 6:30pm
Closing Remarks by Rod Stryker. Teacher or No Teacher: Yoga’s Path to Ultimate Success and Empowerment. Learning how to navigate the unique relationship between teacher and student can lead to greater freedom and personal power. FREE and open to the public.

Day passes available for the Saturday and Sunday of the main conference.
