WHY: Black businesses owners have always been a part of the fabric of the African-American community. In a salute to Black History Month H.E.Z.B.A. seeks to provide minority business owners with an opportunity to speak directly to and network with public officials and their peers. Encouraged to attend are those who operate businesses in Hartford, Bridgeport, New Haven, Waterbury and Springfield, MA. We will also announce plans for celebrating the anniversary of the Inquiring News. Proudly serving as the voice of the African-American community for 40 years.
 
Invited Speakers: Gov. Malloy, Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman (featured speaker at the 2012 luncheon), Mayor Segarra, HPD Chief Rovella, Congressman John Larson, Sen. Blumenthal, Sen. Chris Murphy, Julio Casiano, Dep. Dir. CT. SBA, Sam Hamilton Exec. Dir. HedCo, State Reps, Local City Council members.  
 
Hartford Enterprise Zone Business Association (H.E.Z.B.A.), was formed to assist minority businesses in their growth. The association offers business owners financial assistance as well as advice on obtaining loans, permits and licenses, and seminars on marketing. Media is invited to attend. Photo opportunities with public officials will be made available.

The H.E.Z.B.A. luncheon event is always very well attended and business owners leave with a lot of great networking, new knowledge and strategies as well as opportunities to speak directly with civic leaders.
