Lembo recently launched the Man Up campaign to raise awareness about a significant gender disparity in health care. Both nationally, and in Connecticut, men are more likely to suffer from the most serious chronic conditions and, on average, die six years earlier than women.
As state comptroller, Lembo coordinates health care for more than 200,000 lives in Connecticut where the state has already proven that strong preventative care saves money and lives.
The purpose of the campaign is to promote preventative care among men, improving health outcomes for more men and, consequently, relieving the burden that lack of preventative care has on the state's health care system.
