VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT CONNCAT
HIGH SCHOOL PREP AND STUDY SKILLS (cap 30 Students)
Monday 5 – 6 pm (1hr/week)
The aim of this program is to positively impact academic success and attitude toward academic achievement for selected 7th and 8th grade students in an effort to prepare them for the rigors of high school. Impact on attitude will be measured by a pre and post student survey. Academic achievement will be measured by teacher completed evaluation and official report card.
Three areas will be targeted:

Some experience or desire to work with pre-teenagers
Strong communication skills

Tuesday OR Thursday 4:50pm to 6pm (1hr 10 min/week)

COLLEGE PREPARATION AND MENTORING (cap 35 students/12 per assigned day)
Monday, Tuesday, OR Thursday 3:40pm – 5:10pm (1hr 30 min/week)
The aim of this collaboration is to connect youth in New Haven to exciting new ways of embracing their academic potential. Develop a relationship between college students and middle and high school students in New Haven, thereby linking public schooling with high education. Small groups of college students will be paired with groups of New Haven and Hamden public school students to meet on a weekly basis.

- ConnCAT Volunteers should arrive no later than 4:50pm to begin work with the group
- Weekly lessons/activities/discussions will be provided. ConnCAT Volunteers should be familiar with the provided lessons in advance of the meeting time
