Friday evening, October 12, Films at the Whitney will be screening Lavinia Currier's new film OKA!.  The film is based upon musicologist Louis Sarno's book Song From the Forest, chronicling his experiences with the Bayaka Pygmy clan in the Central African Republic in the mid-1980s.  Ms. Currier is providing a 35mm print of the film and will be here to introduce the film and discuss it after the screening.

The following HuffPost article and interview with Currier gives a good overview of what makes the film extraordinary:   http://www.huffingtonpost.com/brad-balfour/oka-interview_b_1021739.html
