A 5K Walk for Prostate Health Awareness will take place on October 20, 2012. The event is being sponsored by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Epsilon Iota Iota Chapter. Prostate Cancer continues to adversely affect our community, and it would be great to support the effort to bring awareness in order to improve the overall health and quality of life in our neighborhoods. The walk will begin at 9 A.M. in front of Hill Health Center and will culminate at Goffe Street Park with a closing ceremony where speakers, including Dr. Stanley Frencher, a noted resident of Urology at Yale-New Haven Hospital, will give a talk about the significance of prostate cancer awareness and the importance of prevention. Health screenings will also be provided for members of the community at Goffe Street Park. The registration for the walk is $15 per person or $50 for a team of four. For more more information and to register, please visit: http://newhavenques.org/event/5k-for-prostate-health-awareness/. Register individually or as teams of four. The proceeds from the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society, earmarked for research and spending for minority communities. |
