Vanessa Williams
Vanessa Williams has done it all. The first black woman to be crowned Miss America is now an actor, producer, singer and mother of three daughters and a son. She and her mother, Helen Williams, also co-authored the book You Have No Idea. In it, the two write about their relationship and Williams’ personal struggles as a teenager, including molestation and an abortion, and her rise in the entertainment industry. The two women will be in Hartford this month to headline the Amistad Center for Art & Culture’s Phenomenal Woman Luncheon Oct. 13 at the Hilton Hartford. Vanessa Williams, who has a new show and a new beauty line, was between tapings of her new series, 666 Park Avenue , when she took some time to talk to Hartford Magazine .
