Between the Church and the Community

Community Church Weeks

Church on the Rock is one of five area churches that will kick off the Clergy Ambassador Program by being hosts to Community Church Weeks, a series of week long programs open to the entire New Haven Community. The information below is just the week assigned to COTR to fill. I look forward to posting the events and programs being hosted by the other four churches. In the future, other churches and other faiths will be included, but it appears that we are off to a great start in this unprecedented collaboration!

Look for press coverage in the near future concerning the Clergy Ambassador program,

Session Title: Dialogue to Create Safer & Healthier Neighborhoods
Facilitators: Community Mediation
Description: In 2010/2011, Community Mediation organized and facilitated a series of dialogues in various neighborhoods to create connections between residents and the police and plan strategies to create safe and healthy neighborhoods. We would like to continue in that thread since the community did not have an opportunity to meet a third time to choose strategies and create action plans. The goal of this two-hour dialogue will be to choose strategies from the list brainstormed by residents and police last year and actually discuss what is needed to implement these strategies and assign responsibilities to those willing to make a change in their neighborhood. Participants will participate in small group discussions that will then be presented to the larger group. All facilitators will have been trained by CM and will be a combination of adult and youth from the New Haven region.
