Dear Friend,
For nearly 15 years the New Haven Probate Court has provided grants to caregivers through its Kinship Program. Shortly after the program was established, a group of attorneys came together to assist this effort through the Thomas F. Keyes, Jr. Grant Fund, which makes awards to the Kinship Fund. In 2005, the Kinship Fund expanded to provide grants to guardians appointed by the Regional Children’s Probate Court. In 2006, the State supported a Respite Project designed specifically to complement caregivers, grandparents and relative guardians. Both funds are granted by the State, Thomas F. Keyes, Jr. Grant Fund and local donors, particularly Judges and attorneys.
These programs depends on your support to meet urgent and compelling needs for grandparents, caregivers and other guardians as they continue to become caretakers in these uncertain economic times. The grants provided by these funds are very important resources for thousands of caregivers, families and children. In 2007, the State, under the innovative leadership of Judge James Lawlor, approved the expansion of these programs to include the Extended Family Pilot Program. Our goal is to increase the scope of our financial position through greater organization, individual, and corporate participation.
On May 31, 2012, at 6:30 PM the Children’s Trust Fund is sponsoring a reception in support of Thomas F. Keyes, Jr. Grant Fund at New Haven Lawn Club, 193 Whitney Avenue, New Haven. We invite you to attend this special event. If you are unable to attend your help as a sponsor would be greatly appreciated. Should you have questions or would like additional invitations, please contact Emma Jones, Executive Director of Probate Court Service Center, ejones@ctprobate.gov and/ or (203) 946-6493.
On behalf of Connecticut’s caregivers, grandparents, relative caretakers and most vulnerable citizens I thank you for your contribution to this worthy cause.
.
Sincerely,
Karen Foley-Schain
