Nell Irvin Painter is the Princeton University Edwards Professor of American History, Emerita. A leading historian, she is currently an artist-and-scholar in residence in the Department of African American Studies at Yale University. She is the author of "The History of White People", a book described as "a mind-expanding and myth-destroying exploration of 'whiteness'—an illuminating work on the history of race and power."
