IMMEDIATE RELEASE
IT’S TIME FOR COMMUNITY ACTION!
April 11, 2012 New Haven, CT
There is an open assault on black life. How many more lives must we lose? What should we do? When should we do it? These questions and more will be discussed and answered at the next Town Hall Meeting; Fighting for Survival: Raising the Value of Black Life. With New Haven having one of the highest violent crime rates in the nation, across communities of all sizes (both large and small), this timely meeting will address the concerns the communities have to take ACTION to make their neighborhoods safe and more secure.
The panel for the evening will include many community leaders and special guest hosts of The Lion Out The Cage Blog Talk Radio Program, Philip A. Muhammad and Martin F. Muhammad. “As we protest and march in response to the death of our young, we must realize that Trayvon Martin was just another black life in the long list of lives that have been devalued and underappreciated,” said Philip A. Muhammad. This meeting will look into what is corroding and deteriorating the structure of the black family and the ways to take back the family and the community. When asked what Martin F. Muhammad is looking forward to from this town hall meeting, he stated, “The conversations must be serious and the actions that come out of the conversations must be even more serious.”
We’re calling on the community to come out and join us on April 28, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the New Haven Free Public Library-Stetson Branch located at 200 Dixwell Ave or call (203) 946-8119 for more information.
