IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF PUBLIC EDUCATION IN RIO

 COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY TEACHERS COLLEGE -BRAZIL
Last week Dr. Brian Perkins served as a consultant to the Rio Department of Education and trained 50+ school administrators in the Climate Improvement Process which he developed a several years ago. This process is being implemented in 152 schools in Rio as part of their intensive efforts to reform schools in historically violent communities. These schools are part of the department's Schools of Tomorrow Initiative. See - http://riotimesonline.com/brazil-news/opinion-editorial/opinion/creating-a-new-tomorrow-for-rio-de-janeiro/#

Secretary Costin and her executive staff have acknowledged that in order to move students forward academically, the social, academic and physical climate must be improved in the schools. Needless to say this is a tremendous delight and honor to be on the ground level as a partner in improving schools in Rio.
