Waverly Duck is an assistant professor of sociology at the University
of Pittsburgh, having previously held postdoctoral positions at the
University of Pennsylvania and Yale University. He is widely regarded as an expert in poverty, race and gender relations, community order, and the drug trade. His ethnography of a small Northeastern city,
Precarious Living: The Orderliness of African-American Poverty, will be published by the University of Chicago Press.
