Greater New Haven Business & Professional Association, a minority advocacy group, plans to fete past presidents- The New Haven Register - Serving New Haven, Connecticut: "NEW HAVEN — For the first time in its 46-year history, the Greater New Haven Business & Professional Association will hold a dinner to honor past presidents.

Board of directors President Cornell Wright will be recognized, as well.

“I feel great. It’s long overdue,” said Willie Holmes, a past president who still is on the board. Holmes also is co-chairman of the 2011 Presidents Dinner & Awards Ceremony.

“Only a few of us are left,” he said.

Honorees, in addition to Holmes and Wright, are: Dale Bethune, Edward Cherry, Joseph Grate, Wendell Harp, Thomas Holloman, retired Judge Clarence Jones, Al Kinder, Brack Poitier, Odell Stewart, Wesley Thorpe Sr., David Waller and James Washington.

The gala will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 14 at Fantasia Banquet Facility, 404 Washington Ave., North Haven. The theme is “Years of Leadership, Years in Business.”"
