Greater New Haven Business & Professional Association, a minority advocacy group feteS past presidents. For the first time in its 46-year history, the Greater New Haven Business & Professional Association held a dinner to honor past presidents.
“I feel great. It’s long overdue,” said Willie Holmes, a past president who still is on the board. Holmes also is co-chairman of the 2011 Presidents Dinner & Awards Ceremony.
“Only a few of us are left,” he said.
Honorees, in addition to Holmes are Cornell Wright, Dale Bethune, Edward Cherry, Joseph Grate, Wendell Harp, Thomas Holloman, retired Judge Clarence Jones, Al Kinder, Brack Poitier, Odell Stewart, Wesley Thorpe Sr., David Waller and James Washington.
The gala was held from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 14 at Fantasia Banquet Facility, 404 Washington Ave., North Haven. The theme is “Years of Leadership, Years in Business featuring keynote speaker William Granville, founder of the Granville Academy, which has several city affiliates including New Haven and Waterbury and nationwide
