December 16, 2011: Tis The Season To Be Reading Events Throughout CT & All aboard Parent Express Bus

(2) December 16, 2011: Tis The Season To Be Reading Events Throughout CT & All aboard Parent Express Bus: "Dear Children Champions,

In 2010, Gwendolyn Samuel and the State of Black CT Alliance asked the Governor to proclaim December 16, 2010 “Tis The Season To Be Reading” day. This concept encouraged communities and schools across the state to host activities that encouraged early literacy/reading events throughout the holiday season and beyond. An emphasis was placed on events for vulnerable populations that comprise the achievement gap (i.e. shelters, transitional homes, foster homes, low-income communities and highly populated communities of color).

It is with these sentiments in mind, and on behalf of the CT Parent’s Union, that I am very pleased to extend an invitation for you to participate as a sponsor of our upcoming December 16, 2011 “Tis The Season To be Reading “events throughout the State of Connecticut."
