Dear Tom
Inspite of Hurricane Irene, kids are back in school! This is always a wonderful time of year filled with tremendous educational optimism. Of course, as you may already be aware, our educators are facing great challenges along with increasing pressures that seem particular to the current state of the nation including rising demands for accountability at all levels, along withdecreasing budgets. In the science and math categories we are falling behind both in terms of historical domestic achievements as well as globally.
How can our superintendents, principals, and teachers maintain momentum on holistic education reform with budget shortfalls, rising poverty, and increasing demands for accountability at all levels?
How do we ascribe accountability metrics to different parts of our educational system?
What can teachers do to engage students with different learning abilities and achievement levels in their classrooms?
In this issue of the WHY SCIENCE newsletter, we invite you find answers to these pressing questions by exploring the Back to School articles featured.
Enjoy!
