NEW HAVEN — If the goal is to have more city residents as city police officers and firefighters, start grooming them young.
That’s the idea behind a new New Haven Public Safety Academy started at Hillhouse High School, which 25 freshmen and one sophomore started last week in what organizers hope will prepare them for public safety careers when they graduate — and prepare them for college and life if they decide on a different career path
