Hartford bridge designated in honor of Tuskegee Airmen - WFSB Channel 3: "HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -
A bridge on Interstate 84 in Hartford has been designated to honor the memory of the Tuskegee Airmen, Rep. Marie Lopez Kirkley-Bey said in a statement.

The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African American flying squadron formed in 1941, and were based in Tuskegee, AL. Before 1940, African Americans were banned from flying in the United States military.

The Tuskegee Airmen later became one of the best fighter groups in World War II."
