Dr. Akpalu holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She received her B. A. in Chemistry (High Honors) and Physics from Smith College and has received several awards and recognition for her research, education and entrepreneurial activities, including the National Nanotechnology Initiative Award in Small Angle X-ray and Neutron scattering, and the 2007 Martin Luther King Faculty/Staff Award at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Dr. Yvonne A. Akpalu, an award winning scientist, entrepreneur and filmmaker, is the founder of WHY SCIENCE and the Why Plastics? educational program. She brings over 10 years experience as a distinguished scientific researcher, university faculty member and K-12 educator to all WHY SCIENCE clients.
