THE NEW HAVEN PROMISE

Tom, thank you for sharing. I am compelled to speak on the Gospel Fest New Haven in particular.
This annual event provided a Weekend of Inspiration and Hope. Each year we sought to uplift, inspire, and entertain our community with opportunities for inner-city youth and families in the tri-state area for over 14 years. The opportunity to engage in this awesome event was proven to be some of the most memorable concerts that was afforded to the community at large.

Unknown to many the Christian Community Commission, Inc. is a volunteer organization. In order for this event to move forward was based on a lot of prayer and then funding and sponsorships along with individual donations and grants that were used to provide more than 1500 attendees with the opportunity to “get out” and enjoy and experience concerts, teachings, networking and so much more that would not have been normally afforded to them.

Can one imagine you’ve grown up in the inner-city, and you’ve never been to a concert or seen an award winning gospel artist perform live and in person except on television. Gospel Fest took everyone outside and beyond the walls of the inner-city. The CCC, Inc. never asked for anything in return. The goal was to "Restore the Lost" and provide concerts to uplift people with its message of faith and hope. It was also a platform for local artist and choirs to showcase their talents.

On the outside no one could imagine the importance of funding and event as such and the cost...keep in minds no salaries were ever paid and we all volunteered some to the tune of 14 years since it's vision became a reality via Pastor Donald Morris.

Gospel music holds a special place in the inner cities especially in the African American community. So now with no Gospel Fest this year one begins to think whose mission will it become to manage and conserve the vision of the gift of gospel music and to provide Godly recreational opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations and inspire commitment to celebrating the culture of the African-American community at large.

Will Gospel Fest New Haven return...only God will determine...however, watch CPTV for more info as to "Why No Gospel Fest This Year" it is an episode where Pastor Donald Morris speaks candidly about this subject. You can watch this on Tuesday and Saturdays.

The CCC, currently is focused on keeping at-risk children and youth off the streets and in school and offers young adults a second chance in life by providing them with an opportunity to see that people do care about them...here is where the Promise Land steps in.
