FAMILY REUNION

FAMILY REUNION

Members of the Trinidad and Tobago Association are happy to have found each other for fellowship and to share their culture at regular meetings over the past year.
They’re especially excited to share their unique foods, music and dancing with the greater Bridgeport community.
The group will host a “Day in the Park,” a family event at Seaside Park on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 2:30 to 8.30 p.m., and they invite the community to attend.
“The steel pan, which was founded in Trinidad, is the only musical instrument founded in the twentieth century,” said Gita Capasso, one of the event’s organizers.
They also want to share some of the wonderful tastes of their islands. Michael Gittens, founder of the newly formed Trinidad and Tobago Association, said he expects to serve pelau rice, a traditional Trinidadian dish made with chicken, rice and peas.
