PROGRAM UPDATE 

The Gastón Institute's Latinos in Massachusetts: Springfield 
briefing will take place on Thursday, June 30th at the Springfield Sheraton Hotel from 10:00am-1:30pm.  This briefing, which will be the first of several briefings to be held throughout Massachusetts, has generated great interest and as result we have added an additional session to discuss recovery and rebuilding efforts.  This additional session also presents an opportunity to brings together different stakeholders  to discuss and plan for the significant role that Latinos play in the city's overall development and future.

Program Agenda

10-11:30: Data Presentation and Q &A
During this session, Gastón Institute researchers will present the latest demographic profile of Latinos in Springfield, which will include data on education, health, and economic development. The presentation includes a series of policy and practice recommendations intended to improve the prospects of Latinos in the region as well as time for Questions and Answers.

11:30-Noon: Transition
Lunch will be offered to those who will be attending the afternoon session.

12:00-1:30pm: Rebuilding & Recovery: Working Together for a Stronger Springfield
Lead staff from the Governor's Western MA Regional Office and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) will present current regional rebuilding and recovery efforts. A facilitated planning session by community stakeholders will then take place, discussing how local stakeholders can best work together to improve the outcomes of the Latino community in the region.
