Thank you so much for sharing this history regarding the relationship between the Natives who occupied this land prior to Columbus and the Africans who were captured and brought to this land. The story of the intermingling of these peoples are prevalent in New England as well. The Mashantucket Pequot Native Americans the African Slaves lived among one another and that is why there is a closeness and resemblance among them during these present time.

Actually, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe has been mistreated and maligned because of their African features to the point that one Author ,Jeff Benedict (Without Reservation - 2001) suggests the Mashantucket were not descended from the original Pequot. Now, these suspicions are not thought of in regards to the New England Mohegan Native Americans whose European features are prominent among its tribal members. But its like that black man can't win in this society as historically he continues to be maligned and castrated by the powers that be.

Again, thank you Mr. Ficklin for sharing this wonderful, informative story about this invisible nation of the Native and African American.
