LIl Niqo Makes A Move At US Chess Championship | Kidult: "To help kick off the 2011 US and Women’s Chess Championships, Lil Niqo, an 11-year-old hip-hop star and chess player who is the youngest artist signed by Def Jam Recordings, recently performed to more than 30 students at the Innovative Concept Academy in St. Louis.

Lil Niqo performed two songs for the students and then took part in a “simul” match with Women’s Grandmaster Jennifer Shahade. Also in attendance was Irina Krush, the 2010 US Women's Champion, and Maurice Ashley, first-ever African-American Grandmaster. Ashley discussed the importance of chess and the benefits it can have for students.

The program was put on by the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis, which is hosting the championships."
